HUMANITARIAN MINISTRY REWARDS WINNERS OF THE FCSSIP25 OPEN COMPETITION, PRESENTS MEDALS TO SUCCESSFUL ATHLETES AND DECORATES LEAD-P OFFICERS

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Dr.Nasir Sani Gwarzo, mni, NPOM, has awarded seventeen (17) staff of the Ministry who won the Open competition of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP25) with Samson Galaxy Tablets.

The Permanent Secretary made the presentation at the award ceremony organised by the Ministry in Abuja.


He said the open competition by the Ministry on the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP25) is anchored on pillars one and six which is Capacity Building, Talent Management and Value Proposition to Civil Servants (Staff Welfare). The award of Galaxy Tabs is to promote digitalisation in the civil service.

Dr.Sani-Gwarzo stated that, this is an innovative competition which is aimed at creating more awareness on FCSSIP25, " I am happy that this competition which is the first of its kind is taken place in the Humanitarian Ministry. It is my desire to ensure that this competition will be a regular affair in the Ministry so as to sustain the awareness of the FCSSIP25 which is the major reform that is ongoing in the Federal Civil Service".


He also presented Medals and gifts to successful Athletes of the Ministry who worn medals at the last FEPSGA competition. Another event that took place at the Ministry was the unveiling of the Ministry's Sport's club new kits and the decoration of the police orderly to the Permanent Secretary, Mr Ekele Ojonugwa, who was recently promoted to the rank of the Inspector of Police.

 

In his welcome remarks, the Director of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, Mr Valentine Ezulu, said the Federal Civil Service is currently undergoing several reforms that will make the civil service more effective. These reforms are aimed at repositioning the Civil Service into one of the best public institutions for better service delivery across all sectors globally.


 Mr. Ezulu said It is against this backdrop that the Permanent Secretary in the meeting held with LEAD-P Officers posted to the Ministry on Monday 13th March, 2023 directed that there should be an open competition for all staff of the Ministry and its agencies on the memorization of the six (6) pillars of FCSSIP25 and its enablers. He also stated that this competition will begin from the headquarters before it is cascaded to all the agencies

 under the Ministry.


The Director said further to this directive, the Department successfully organized the competition on Friday 16th, June 2023 and was supervised by judges from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation who selected the winners.


He said twenty-six staff of the Ministry participated in the competition out of which seventeen were successful. 


Mr.Ezulu urged Departments/Units that had not shown interest in the

 competition to understand that reforms in the civil service has come to stay and as such all hands should be on deck to ensure that the Ministry is above

 board among all MDAs. It is also pertinent to note that this competition will

 be sustained using different approaches, subject to availability of funds.


Earlier, the Director Civil Service Transformation Department, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr.John Magbadelo, in his analysis of the open competition of the FCSSIP25 commended the Permanent Secretary for the innovation stating that it is a welcome development. 


Dr. Magbadelo said the Ministry is the first to carry out a competition of this kind, noting that the Director of Reform is very passionate about the reforms.


He said that officials of the Office of the Civil Service of the Federation were in the Ministry to assess the competition and it was very competitive which showed that the Staff of the Ministry have good knowledge of the FCSSIP25. 


Dr. Magbadelo said he hoped that these competition would continue and also extent to other areas of the Reform. 


In attendance were Directors of the Ministry, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Gabriel J.E, National President FEPSGA Mr. Aloku Amaebi and other Staff of the Ministry.
