Education Volunteer Teacher

ROLE:

The Education Volunteer Teacher will be responsible for the delivery of lessons to out of children enrolled in AEP centers for implementation of the Education Cannot Wait - Multi-Year Resilience Project (ECW-MYRP) for Save the Children.

Under the guidance of the Education Officer(s), he/she will ensure that ECW-MYRP Accelerated Education Program (AEP) is implemented in line with SCI standards and donor requirements and commitments. The Education volunteer Teachers will be responsible for delivering accessible and protective education services to learners in the AEP center



Key Tasks and Responsibilities

1.     Support and guide the learners to comprehend the subject study.

2.     Keep records of pupils' performance.

3.     Have contact sessions with learners at least 4 hours a day and 4 times a week.

4.     Prepare weekly lesson plans and delivery plans as per the curriculum.

5.     Support to identify and enroll the target children within the community for the program.

6.    Support in back-to-school campaign/ community awareness-raising activity in the community

7.     Targeted children and adolescent boys and girls ages access quality, relevant basic education learning opportunities.

8.     Support mobilization of communities, and work closely with School-Based Management Committee (SBMC)

9.     Ensure that all documents for children are kept up-to-date, accurate, and secure; and ensure that information is compiled as needed on an accurate and timely basis to assess progress against activities and outcomes for each class.

10.Deliver accessible and protective education services in the AEP center

11.Record leaners' attendance during every contact day

12.Data compilation and reporting of learners

13.Ensure a safe and friendly atmosphere within the Temporary Learning Sites.

14.Ensure the inclusion of all children regardless of gender and ability in all learning activities.

15.Ensure equipment, teaching and learning resources, and play materials are used properly, inventory taken, and are safely stored daily.

17.Conduct additional tasks as required by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATION

Minimum of an OND, NCE certificate or its equivalent.

EXPERIENCE, AND ATTRIBUTES

1.     At least 2 years of accrued working experience in the field of Education with a minimum of 1 year in a volunteer role in an international NGO or NNGO is desirable.

2.     Experience in strategic thinking and planning skills, be able to set priorities, prepare lesson plans and evaluate learners' progress.

3.     Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.

4.     Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.

5.     Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of needs or humanitarian response.

6.    Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in a multi-cultural and or international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

7.     Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation, and coaching.

8.     Excellent time management and planning capacity.
